Lack of Productivity...

I'm puppy sitting today for my brother and sister-in-law while they are out of town for a few days.  Everywhere I go, the puppy follows me and so I am constantly talking to her and trying to reassure her and yet still get things done.

I keep sort-of throwing my hands up into the air and thinking, "I'll just have to wait until DH gets home so he can watch her."

IT'S A DOG... I can't even imagine how you ladies are so productive with little one(s) running around!

 She is, however, very, very cute...

But can your puppy steal and run away with the clean clothes you've just folded?  Or pull out all of the recycling that you just placed in the recycling bin?  Or defeat the babyproofing device on the kitchen trash can and dig around inside to see what she can find?

A dog is good practice... but having your first baby is a HUGE wake-up call! Your time will no longer be your time. You will be serving the needs of someone else 24/7 whether you feel like it or not. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome (why else would I have 3 kids), but a baby is much more demanding than a puppy. Oh, and it was extra fun when we had a preschooler and a toddler and decided to get our own puppy....what were we thinking!!!!!!???? She's a pretty good dog now that she's a few years older, but those were crazy times! Good luck dog-sitting!
