My husband does this. Only it is when he talks to all the old Germans from the area where he grew up. It's bad, and I make fun of him for it every chance I get.
My mom does this, too, with any accent. It's hilarious, especially since she is a front-office manager of a dental office and talks on the phone all day=)
Evelyn-Mommy to Ben 9.20.05 and Emily 5.14.07 and Callie 7.10.09!
Ha. The further south we go, the thicker our accents get. It's funny, really. When DH is around his mom's family in the sticks of TN, he gets REALLY country.
I have to keep myself from doing it. I'll do it with the east coast accent as well. Heck, even my relatives from PA come and after they've been here a day or two I'm saying "warsh"!!!
I do it too. I have a strong southern accent and found myself slowly adopting more of a NY hey yo forgetaboutit! accent when we were up there a week or so ago. The same happened when I moved to NC...even though it's a southern state...the accent there was different than where I am from and currently live.
Re: I have a REALLY bad habit...

haha! I am that way when I am around my midwest/southern grandparents. But I tend to pick up phrases, "y'all"
"You could start an argument in an empty house"
"The engine?s runnin? but nobody?s driving."
"My cow died last night so I don't need your bull." My G'dad would say this when I was a mouthy teen.
Oh I LOOOVE this one!
Puuurf-- that's my job, I talk on the phone to random people all day...LOL!!
Liam is 5!
