I hate living like this!

I can't wait to live in a house that is bigger than a postage stamp. Our SINGLE bathroom is between the two bedrooms and we can't pee or shower or brush our teeth in there if Rhayna is in her room. It immediately wakes her up. We can't wash dishes when she's sleeping because she shares a wall with the kitchen and its too loud. Cheap old house that's the size of prison cell.

I. can't. stand. it.

I seriously think I'm going batty!

  • I'm sorry - that's gotta be annoying!  Have you tried white noise (a fan or something like that) in her room to mask any noise you make while she's sleeping?

^^^  This.  Josh's room is adjacent to the media room.  Even though the walls are double insulated for sound, some things still resonate.  I just leave the ceiling fan on, and it's all good.

  • We have and it just creates a situation where it takes longer for her to fall asleep. She used to do white noise when she was tiny but no prefers quiet. We've even insulated her door and windows but she's quite sensitive to noises.
  • we live in a studio ... nap time is HARD when youre in the same room ... you planning on upgrading any time soon?
  • We can't afford to upgrade here in SoCal - Pistol Packin' Mama, you know about that! Its ridiculous here. We pay 2500.00 a mo + all utils for this crackerjack box. A crackerjack box that was broken into! Bleh.

Maybe you can side-grade instead of upgrade - look for something in the same price range, just with a different layout. It sounds like the layout is causing the problem, not the overall size.

  • Oh I feel you on that! We can't flush the toilet or really do much when Bruce is in bed - he shares a wall with the bathroom as well... and the tv being on too loud, the dishes getting done - all sometimes wake him up. But not always thankfully. If he's well enough asleep we can usually at least pee and wash up after dinner. But sometimes even just walking up and down the creeky old stairs does it... boo.

  • Hate to tell you this but my mom couldn't flush when I was sleeping and I can't do dishes while C is sleeping. ?It probably won't change.

I don't mean can't flush - I mean can't even let the pee hit the water. She hears it (no insulation) and wakes.

This was not how it was in our old house - bathroom and kitchen not next to her room. So I do have hope!
