I couldn't get past the first page of responses on your nanny/vacation post so if this was suggested I apologize in advance. My SIL used a sitter search website to find us sitters in the 2 towns our families have vacation homes in. It was $100/zip code we searched and worth every penny. They are background checked and everything and you can get their references etc. before you even contact them and their availibility is posted on there so you can find exactly what you need. I would look into a service like that and search for someone who already lives in the town you are going to in FL. Then you would not be paying any travel expenses and are not be resonsible for them all the time. You could just have someone "on hold" for those 10 days and call them whenever you needed them. I personally think that would be way easier and by far cheaper than having someone travel with you. Unless you need help with the actual trip down there and then I guess this suggestion sucks. Good luck! I don't blame you for one second for wanting some help. I can not imagine being on vacation with 3 kids!
Re: ~~GHM~~You on?
I've really thought about hiring someone from there. My main concern is that we're traveling overnight. Getting in and out of rest areas or gas stations for midnight potty breaks by myself makes me a little worried. Plus it would be nice to turn the car off and go inside without having to wake the kids if I needed to, or just take one child with me, etc.
I may or may not be traveling with my sister and BIL, but to be honest, you just never know. They may tell me now that we'll caravan down there together, and change their mind at the last minute, which will leave me all alone. I know I'm wanting to leave Wednesday night so the kids can get their travel crankies out on Thursday evening and Friday, so they will be more cooperative during the wedding!
I actually had a teen pop in my head a little while ago. I may ask her mom if she could go with us. I'm just not sure, though. I started thinking that finding an older teen through our homeschool co-op might be a good idea. I don't really know anyone yet to ask, but I'm sure I can ask around.
