I've heard this is good for preventing the flu and other viruses... Does anyone know anything about it? Do you have links to studies or something to back up the claims? TIA!
I have no links on hand but my FIL is constantly urging us to use it. There's a lot of info about it on Mothering.com right now, though ... something about how it's not recommended for the H1N1 because of "something that starts with a C" surge or something or another. You might want to check out their Health board.
I found some random website on the benefits of herbs/berries/etc. during a quick search after my local organic grocery was marketing elderberry juices and syrups. DH and I were taking the elderberry concentrate with water for a couple of weeks. It might have helped. We both work in schools and while everyone else is getting the flu/getting sick/getting H1N1, we're fine. Admittedly, we have a crazy-good diet, so that might be the key
The research I found said that elderberry has been used in immune support in cancer and HIV sufferers. But again, I don't remember the site.
Re: elderberry?
Ok, I found it for you! And it's the cytokine storm.
