Anyone take azithromax while bfing?

I have a sinus infection and the doc prescribed azithromax.  However, it was at an urgent care place since I don't have a doctor except my OB (I know, that's bad).  The guy didn't seem to know much about breastfeeding and just said "it should be fine."   Should I bottle feed and pump and dump and hope Emma will even take a bottle from me or will it not be a problem?  Safefetus.org and it had a B rating, but kellymom had nothing about it.

Thanks!

  • did you ask the pharmacist?

  • Haven't filled it yet.  Wanted to check on here first and see if it's okay before schlepping to the pharmacy because otherwise I'll have extra trips I think.  Unless a pharmacist can give me something compatible without a new prescription?  I go to the Dr so rarely I have no idea how these things work.

  • I just finished it while I was PG.  My CNM gave it to me and told me it was safe for me and the baby.  Not sure about BF but generally almost anything that's safe for PG women is safe when nursing.  Also next to nothing is a Cat B on safefetus.  I think Tylenol's the only other thing I know of.  Even Sudafed and whatnot are category C at least.
  • Thanks ciarri!  I'll take it then and assume it's fine.
