My mom isn't. She has about 3-4 things she does really really well. But the rest...not so good. But she thinks she is a great cook. I just realized with my last post about sugar cookie and stew recipes that my mom really has no recipes to hand down that I would want to use.
My MIL, on the other hand, is a FABULOUS cook. I should ask her for some recipes!
Re: Is your mom a good cook?
Nope, she's not. My dad is the cook in that house.
My MIL is a fabulous cook.
You take my ovaries, I take your yarns.
My mom is a good cook however she cooks with foods I dont like .... like peppers & onions and cabbage lol.
My MIL SUCKS at cooking period. Everything is overcooked and likes to use instant foods like instant mash potatoes and instant gravy...the powedered kind in a packet. Nothing she has ever made is from scratch....I truely believe she thinks everything comes in a box, pouch or packet.
This is why dh rather spend thanksgiving with my family because the food is always much better lol
my mom is pretty good considering how horrible HER mom is. I always thought my mom made good food.
My MIL is a good cook and an excellent baker, but she was taught by her mother, which my mom CANNOT say.
I can't cook at all, unless it is microwavable or a bagged skillet meal. I would go to those meal prep places, except my DH is never home when they are open and I can't take DD for the 2 hours it takes to prepare the meals. Seriously, I can't win. Thank goodness my DH can cook!
My mom owns a catering business that was started by my grandmother and she owns a restaurant w/ my aunt.
So yeah, she's a good cook.
I kind of hate to cook though, even though it's what all the women in my family do. I have one female cousin and we both are anti-cooking; probably because we grew up being at the catering business and stuff.
Both of us will get all of our great-grandmother's recipes if we want them, b/c my aunt [cousin's mom] has the recipe book and plans to give us each copies. It's nice to have that.
I prefer to bake though and am pretty good at that.
Yes and no. Some things she cooks really, really well. However, b/c my father has such a bland palate, she doesn't use anything to season her food other than salt and pepper. And, she's not very adventurous. I think I'm a far better cook.
However, I have to give her credit - she made it a point to get a home cooked meal on the table every night, despit working all day and having to run us here, there and everywhere. We ate very few "boxed" meals growing up.

My mom is a horrible cook and she knows it. It's a big joke in our family. She messes up really basic things, like Jell-o.
My MIL isn't a very good cook either, but she thinks she is AMAZING.
I love to cook and bake, but because of MIL I am always telling my family and MH that if I'm not very good just tell me. Because I'd rather know I was bad and start having things catered then keep cooking for everyone and making them lie to me.

bwahahahahahahahahaha
She can bake well. Can't cook for crap lol
Yes my mom was a great cook. She made the best potato salad I've ever had. Luckily I did get the recipe from her before she died. Her mom was an EXCELLENT cook as well and according to DH, I am following right in their footsteps!
Now my MIL is a not a good cook because any hint of flavor/seasoning burns her tongue so her food is terribly bland.
My mom is excellent; everything is handmade, from scratch, and her meals are usually four course or better. Seriously. Our first Christmas together (dating), she made beef tenderloin, herb-roasted potatoes, carrots, and three different types of pie for dessert. With salad and hors'de'ouvres beforehand. My DH was in wide-eyed wonder, and said, "Can you cook like this?" I told him I can kick butt at ordering pizza, and that is the truth!
DH grew up in a "get your own fast food for dinner" kind of household, so he loves when we spend holidays with my parents!
