Walgreen's giving out H1N1 vaccine?

Heard a commercial about Walgreen's administering the H1N1 vaccine. Made it seem so simple: "Just ask a Walgreen's pharmacist." I find it hard to believe that out of all the places that have it a pharmacy would. I think they are opening themselves up to many angry customers and frustrated employees.

  • I think that it's the Take Care Clinics inside of Walgreen's that are administering the shots.  I know in my area they are who you go to for the seasonal flu shot.

I'm a little peeved that they have the "top of the list" people who are supposed to be getting the shots first but yet it's impossible for those individuals to access the shots, it seems.  I am in the high risk category since I'm pregnant and have asthma yet when I ask my OB when they will have the shot, they tell me they may not even be getting it!  If pregnant women are at the top of the priority list, then OB's should be at the top of the receiving end of the shot itself.  I'm annoyed by everything H1N1 related right now especially considering what I just went through (2 days in the hospital being treated for H1N1 and begging to be tested!).

  • I'm sure it depends on what state you are in. In Michigan none of the Walgreens are giving out H1N1 shots, yet I have heard the commercial too.

Myself, Preston and my mom were able to get our H1N1 shot at the University (but it was one day only). They did have leftover shots too! I was surprised (even though the line was 4.5 hours long).

I'm not pg or in any high risk group, but this is the exact reason why I'm peeved! The OBs and pediatricians and anyone in the high risk group should have access. If I get the flu, while it would suck, I think I'd be o.k. I won't get it unless there is enough for everyone that is high risk. I'll role the dice.

Wow! Left over shots? I'm in Ma. and apparently the governor decided that prisoners should be first in line and then the high risk groups? My pg friend is having an extremely difficult time getting it and her son already had flu B. If my boys are able to get it, I'll be happy.

This exactly!  I'm in MA too and not only are the prisoners getting it first, the statehouse is getting before the high risk ppl! DD is on the priority wait list for asthma and auto immune issues.  But we can't find the injection anywhere, only the mist.  Dd can't have the mist.  Ugh and it is all over my school now so it is only a matter of time.
  • WHA?  Why are the prisoners at the top of the list and why isn't that national news?  That is crazy!
