Using wine in cooking...question

What is a good substitute?  Neither of us drink wine, and I seriously don't want to go buy a whole bottle for 3/4 cup in a recipe.  What do you think?

  • If it calls for a red wine, you can use beef stock and if it calls for a white wine, you can use chicken stock.

  • I just buy the little bottles of cooking wine that are right by the vinegar.  They get used pretty quickly because they are not very big and usually are $3ish.

  • Ditto the beef and chicken subs. ?Or the mini bottles of wine. ?I don't like cooking wine because it's too salty for me.
  • beef broth for red, and apple juice for white.

Okay, duh.  I actually have this in my cupboard.  I just never use it...obviously.  LOL!
