My husband and I tried last month to get pregnant. I used the OPT and of course since we were really trying hard, it didn't work I am a teacher and last month was the last "perfect" month for us. I am soooo torn between still trying or putting it off until May. Any suggestions? I know most of you will say "there is NO PERFECT time!!!" I understand that, just not sure what to do?
Things that worry me if I did get pregnant and was due during school:
I would have to take off some w/out pay, sending a 6 week old baby to daycare.
If we waited and had a baby at the end of the school year, I would have the whole summer!
Ohhh, why does it have to be this hard?????
Re: ohhh, what to do???
I would say you shouldnt even be trying if your not 100% sure if you want to at this point.
I totally understand where you are coming from. DH & I are in the same boat. We were trying to time everything for an end of the school year/beginning of summer baby. This month is really the last "good" time in that aspect. We're going to continue to try though, plenty of our friends have had someone else start the year for them.
We are extremely lucky though, my mom & dad each get 6 weeks vacation and both have offered to take 3 weeks at a stretch so we wouldn't have to put a 6 week old infant in child care. S/He would be closer to 12 when they would have to go in.

This! Also maybe you should discuss finances with you husband.
I definitely understand your predicament, being in the educational world as well (although not in a school). While it would be ideal to have a baby due at the end of the school year, it's a simple fact that life doesn't always work according to plan. If you ended up having to take time off without pay, maybe it should be your goal to have enough money saved so you can take off longer. Maybe this means delaying your baby plans for a while so you can get to a better place financially, that will be up to you. While it would be extremely difficult for me to be out of work next August/September, etc., I've decided to not let work dictate my home life and we're not stopping our TTC efforts. We'll make it work in the end.
HTH!
There is never a perfect time to have a baby. It is something you can't control.
I understand your concern about starting the year, I am a teacher too, but at the same time, I think it is best to just try and have a baby and go from there. It could take you awhile to get PG, and for all you know you could end up with a baby due in Dec, or Jan. You just never know.

I am in the same boat too! I'm a first year guidance counselor, so I hope if I get pregnant, they will keep me on for a second year knowing that I will need to take a bit of time off for the baby. There's another guidance counselor at my school, so I'm really hoping they will do that for me.
DH & I are both teachers, and we would love to time things to be due in late May/early June so we'd have the whole summer and both be off with a new baby. However, since I don't ovulate naturally on my own, we've decided to go ahead and pursue other treatment options now. Today is CD1 for me, and I'll see my doc on Tuesday probably, and if all works out this month, I'd be due in early August and need to miss the first 6-8 weeks of work. If that happens, I plan to go in the first two days of school (we have a block schedule) to introduce the course, give out important info, etc, then take my time (if I can do so w/o screwing up my disability pay). My dad will keep the baby for us after we both have to be back at work, as well. It's not ideal, especially since I teach AP classes, but we'll make it work.
I am a teacher as well. Initially when we started trying it was with the idea that I'd get pregnant near the end of a school year.
Now that we've been trying for 16 cycles, it is with the idea that we'll take a pregnancy whenever we can. If I end up due on the first day of school, it won't make a bit of difference to me. Things will work out in the end.

It took 44 cycles, just over 3 years, 6 failed IUI's in MI, and 1 round of IVF at CCRM to get our BFP!
