Parenting after a Loss

She latched...!

I randomly just removed my nipple shield towards the end of a feeding to see if she would latch.  I tried a few weeks ago unsuccessfully and then decided to take a break from weaning her off the shield so we could focus on introducing the bottle instead.  I wasn't expecting much but she latched on immediately and started sucking away.  The next feeding she did it again.  Yay!  At this rate I'll have her weaned off the nipple shield by the end of the weekend!

  • Yay, congrats!  It's liberating, isn't it?  BF is soooo much easier without the shield.

  • Yay! Thats great! We had to wean off a nipple shield too....it took a good week with alot of tries but he got it! I think it helps once they start getting bigger too and can open their mouth wider...I also noticed if I squeezed my nipple (well areola) he could latch easier without slipping off.
