DH has started to flu-like as of today- achey, fatigue, etc. He just started to feel warm to me this evening (but I haven't taken his temp- our only thermonitor is in DS's room & he's sleeping!).
Of course my OB doesn't have any h1n1 vaccination (nor does my son's pediatrician!), so I'm a little freaked out. DS and I are both seasonal-flu vaccinated, however.
I guess I'll call the dr tomorrow (ugh, Saturday!), but is there a way to tell the difference between him having seasonal flu vs. h1n1? I'm obviously washing my hands a lot- but there's only so much I can do to limit exposure right now.
Am I over-reacting ? Any suggestions?
Re: DH has flu-like symptoms- I'm PG & not h1n1 vaccinated
Yeah, I can't find the vaccination anywhere anyway, so it wouldn't matter. I have no idea about PG women taking Tamiflu.... I'll have to call and ask.
Good to know about the rapid test.... Figures it's a weekend though!
Oh no! Hopefully it's not the flu. If it is, it may just be seasonal. I keep hearing that the seasonal is really making rounds around town - but not yet the h1n1. Then again, there are a lot of flu rumors. Def call the OB and pedi and keep drinking lots of fluids.
Dude, you are just not getting a break with this PG! Hope he feels better soon! If you need any help or want to camp out in the burbs, you know how to reach me.

David "BD" 2/8/07 Spencer 9/12/11You're totally right- it's probably the seasonal flu.... right? Maybe not even that.... Damn 60 minutes for freaking me out about n1h1 and being PG! And damn my OB for not having it yet, jeez!
I know, the PG itself has been fine- but so far I had 2 weeks of sinus infection then 2 weeks of stomach flu! My immune system sucks this time around!!!
Aw, you're so sweet- thanks for the offer! We were actually headed up to NH for most of the weekend anyway- so maybe I'll just leave him behind and we'll head up with the little guy! Unfort. though he's supposed to be the Godfather at a christening on Sunday- so I really hope this passes by tomorrow!
Thanks Joy!
The seasonal flu doesn't start making it's rounds until November, at least in the midwest. The virus that is going around now is either H1N1 or there is another virus that is mimicking the flu virus that comes with a high fever, cough, aches, fatigue, congestion.
Your husband can go to an urgent care and get a swab test done to get tested for the H1N1. Stay away from him, if possible go stay somewhere else or have him stay somewhere else. Since you are pregnant they should treat him with Tamiflu to shorten the length of his symptoms.
I'll call the OB tomorrow... Sadly until I get out of town tomorrow, I can't do much to isolate myself (we're in 775 sf condo!). Guess I could sleep on the couch with the cats?
I would sleep on the couch. They are only seeing H1N1 here in Boston, so if he has the flu that is almost definitely what he has. There is no vaccine anywhere in MA (except the mist which you can't get anyway if you are pregnant).Wash your hands religiously and make sure yor DH is very, very cautious with sneezing and coughing.
As DevonPow and others said, they're only seeing N1H1 now - so if he has flu sx, it's likely that, unfortunately.
My SIL had it earlier this spring while we were visiting/staying with her and we all managed to avoid it by religiously wiping down EVERY hard surface in the house (phones, remotes, door knobs, stair hand rails, keys, computers, etc.) with Clorox wipes and/or Lysol multiple times a day, washing hands constantly (be sure to scrub for at least 20 seconds and get under the finger nails, up the wrists, back of the hands, etc.), and using a ton of hand sanitizer. Isolating the sick person as much as possible is also key - yes, sleeping on the couch in a different room isn't a bad idea at all.
Also, do everything you can to not touch your face or eyes, ever. It's really hard to do, but it will significantly cut down on the transmission.
I used the mentality of treating the entire house as if I had been cooking with raw chicken - think of how careful you are (or should be - lol!) when cooking with it (to avoid the bacteria from spreading), and treat EVERY place in the house as potentially contaminated.
Ugh... so hope you're able to avoid it (and hope DH is feeling better soon!)
