DH and I are looking to get on an insurance plan. Does anyone have any recommendations? I have been on insurance through my step dad company forever but now that we are TTC and married we are looking to get on an insurance plan of our on.
We have insurance though work. But definitely get it switched before you're ku. Some plans won't cover you if your LMP is before you switched and some plans have a waiting period for prenatal coverage. You need to ask questions.

I might be wrong but I think that most private insurance have a waiting period of a year before covering maternity charges, so that's something to consider.
I think I would stick with your current coverage if it is okay. If you do sign up for a new plan, make sure to find out whether your prenatal and maternity care would be covered!
I can stay with the insurance I have now which seems like the easiest thing to do. We were just looking to get coverage together.
Most insurance plans allow you to add your spouse - usually within 30 days of a "life change" which includes marriage or during open enrollment which for all the insurance plans I've ever had is right around this time of year.

if you are eligable, check into medicade. if not, i know Cobra insurance covered my mom from day one when she was pregnant with my brother, who was a suprise. no wait period before maternity coverage. I don't know if they still do, and I do know that Cobra was really expensive, but not as expensive as going without and paying out of pocket.
If neither of these are in your price range, many birthing centers and midwifes offer payment plans and are much more resonable in price than the hospital. this would of course only work if you are okay with the idea of a basically natural birth.
I take it that since you are asking that your work does not offer a plan? My DH switched jobs so we would have insurance before TTC, since we knew that we could not do Cobra or medicade. We are using a birthing center anyway for my well care (exams) and after for pregnancy and delivery once we get KU.
sorry for the essay.

didn't read all posts. you have insurance now? I would stick with that if the coverage is okay and you are okay with your pick of caregivers.

Ya I have insurance now and it is great. DH and I were just considering getting insurance together he doesn't get insurance through his work until he is there a year. We are most likely just going to stay how things are since we are TTC and the insurance I have now it good.

That works then. As long as you are happy with your coverage, then I say stick with it.
