Would you take away the Pull up?

DD turned 3 in Sept and is fully day time potty trained. At what point do I take away the night time pull up? We put her in her pull up right before bed, and without fail it is soaked through every morning. But she VERY rarely has daytime accidents.

I know kids have accidents at night for a while, and I don't expect her to be perfect AT ALL. But I'm wondering if keeping her in the pull up is hindering her. It's like she knows it's okay to pee in it so she doesn't even try. She'll pee in it before she even falls asleep and then tells us like it's a big joke.

  • I would wait until she is waking up with dry pull ups consistently.

  • No, its not hindering her, its totally normal.

But, I'd take her to pee before bed and maybe limit fluids an hour before bed to start getting her use to it.

My DD was PT'd last December and even though she was waking up dry, I still kept her in pull-ups for a few months, just incase.

  • The 'cold turkey' method seems to work for us.   I would take it away for a week. Have her go potty before bed and get up with her first thing in the morning.   If she continues to wet the bed in the middle of the night, she's not PT and needs the pullup.    FWIW, my neighbor's 4 1/2 yr old DD still wears a pullup to bed.

  • I agree to try it for a week and see if she improves.  But if after a week you are still washning sheets every morning I would go back to the PU for a few months.
  • I don't think it's considered a problem 'til 5 or 6 for nighttime.
