cupcakes - full or mini? halloween ideas?

Hi ~ I'm signed up to bring cupcakes to BD's toddler room for halloween party next Friday.  There are 12 kids and 4 teachers.

Should I bring full cupcakes or mini ones?   Other people are also bringing cookies, pretzels, juiceboxes.

Also, any halloween cupcake ideas?

  • I would do mini regular cupcakes or full size healthy cupcakes. Kraft family had a bunch of cute ideas. Also check out the book Hello, Cupcake!!

  • I saw the cutest one in a magizine. So easy

Bake cupcakes and frost with chocolate fosting, use chocolate jimmies and sprinkle over cucakes, use black string licorice (sp?) for legs, and two yellow or red M&M's for eyes, so easy and cute.

  • Not sure about full or mini, but we're doing "eyeball" cupcakes for DS's birthday party!
  • According to my dd's teacher, mini is much less messy because they can actually somewhat fit them in their mouths.  So that is what I usually send.  They're so cute, too!
  • My mom get's Womans World, and they have really cute cupcakes that look like witches hats in there this week.  They are fullsize.  I don't think you could do to much to a mini cupcake to make it really halloween-ish.

I am making ones that look like ice cream cones (swirly frosting).  Three color swirled icing (you paint stripes inside the pastry bag) that look like candy corn.

  • Thanks ladies! Love the ideas.  I just saw the eye cupcakes on Kraft - thanks!

I also found an easy idea for mini cupcakes just using the plastic spider rings (cute and they get a prize with each cupcake) :)

  • I would say regualr sized. Kids LOVE cake and candy. Sometimes you will be surprised how much they can eat, plus the adults too maybe?
  • I second the "Hello, Cupcake" suggestion.  They have a good selection of Halloween cupcakes and some of them are not too time consuming to make.  I just made the "bug" ones for a picnic last weekend and they were very easy and went over great.
