Okay, My child is about to be two. What do you guys do about the temper tantrums? I use the corner method? It does not seem to be helping and he throws fits like screaming fits!! What can I do?

This also scares me from time to time because he throws hisself and last time he fell into my dresser and hurt himself. = [
If we are at home, I ignore it. I walk out of the room and do something else, to look like I am busy not paying attention to him.
After a few mins, he comes up to me, hugs my leg and it stops. If I am sitting on the sofa on my laptop, he crawls up on the sofa, with his blankies, and puts his head on my shoulder. I know at that point he has calmed down enough for me to talk with him, not at him.
if it is something we need to do, right NOW, like leaving the house, I sit down to get to his level and say, please listen to mama before you get upset. look him in the eyes and say what we are going to do. usually this works, and stops it before it gets bad. something, not so much, and then i walk out of the room and we are late.. (i think ohh well, I have a 2 year old I can explain he was throwing a tantrum, most people understand, even if they do not have kids!!)
Good luck. I have only used time outs on occasion to stop a tantrum. and it is because I can not remove myself from the situation, like putting him to bed. It is usually an abreviatted time out though, just long enough for him to stop the crying.
Thanks I will keep that in mind next time it happens. He drives me crazy. He also does it in public. Do you guys have that problem. I get so embarrassed because everybody watches me and I am like OMG people must wonder what kind of parent I am or something.
Re: Need Help Plz
I put him in his room to calm down and completely ignore him. His room is safe and he has his lovey, etc. in their so that helps him regain control.
