4yr old Duplo or Lego?

I am trying to decide whether to buy ds Duplo blocks or legos.  He is turning 4 the month after Christmas and the Duplo blocks are for age 2-5.  He plays with regular legos at the gym childcare and he seems to be able to build cars but I am not sure what else and I would like to encourage some independent play.  I think he would be able to put together some of the larger Duplo sets by himself but I am worried he will grow out of them in just a couple months.  Would you buy Legos or Duplos?

I would go Legos for him b/c experience--but most other children go for duplos.  He wouldn't out grow Duplos that quick but smaller sets of legos could be a good challenge for him.

Carter will be 4 in December and has been playing with regular legos for over a year now.  He builds cars, planes, buildings, etc with the legos and loves to play with them.  So I say the regular legos.

My DD loves Legos & she just turned 5.  She could have played w/ them earlier...in fact my 2yr old plays w/ her sometimes.
