Yeast infection or UTI ~ Brooke

She has bronchitis and is on antibiotics. She had Zithromax but it didn't help the bronchitis and she's now on day two of Amox.

She says it burns when she pees so I think, she's on antibiotics so it may be a yeast infection.  Although I never heard of burning during urination with a yeast infection.  Then I think, it must be a UTI.  Then I think, wait, she's on antibiotics and that's what you'd get for a UTI.

The first time, a few days ago, she said her butt burned when she peed.  I looked at her from behind while she was still sitting on the potty to get a good look and I saw what might be a tear so I thought, that's it, no big deal, she had a big poo poo.  She'll get a Kashi cookie for a snack tonight rather than an Oreo.  Right.  So then the next few times she said it burned when she peed only, I'd ask her is she sure it's her pecpec and not her tail and she said it's her pecpec.  Last evening after she went pee, she said it hurt and I look and it's flaming red from inside to outside.  I think yeast infection.  Next two times, and twice this morning she said so happy that it doesn't hurt anymore.  Look at her pecpec and she looks as normal as always.

I should probably still take her in, huh??

  • I would call first. Maybe try some lotrimen (sp?) on her pachengo.

  • I must mention that she is not itching down there nor is she swollen.
  • I would probably watch her for another day and give her some cranberry juice to cover your bases

  • My DD , who granted, is still in diapers, gets really red down there sometimes. She's not talking so much yet, but sometimes bangs on her diaper area and says ow.  It coincides with the redness, which I think is neither a UTI or a yeast infection, but just soreness (maybe the diaper was on too long).  I butt-cream her up and the next time it looks fine.

I've come close  to  taking her in for it, but it always gets better.

  • you should be giving her Cullturell with that antibiotic. It's a great probiotic for taking while on antibiotics.

She may just be irritated. Is she potty trained? Is she pooping more?

  • She's potty trained and she's regular and it looks normal.  Maybe it was just a fold and not a tear - maybe I didn't get the good look I thought I did and it wasn't her tail end after all.  IDK.  I did just remember though that she has been sticking her hands at or on her pecpec a lot lately so maybe that's all it was.

She strips down naked the second we walk in the door.  I don't fight her on it anymore but when I come from the kitchen into theliving room, she's laying on the couch and her hand is right there like she's some guy with the remote in the other hand, KWIM...
