Trying to Get Pregnant

Ugh ... Back from the doctor (kind of long)

So I had a doctor appt this afternoon to do another HCG to ensure my levels are dropping and get my UTI checked out.

Sidebar: Although I try to prevent them with drinking lots of water, going pee before and after sex, etc. I get frequent UTI (like once a week).  I've talked to my doctor about this before and she said that if I felt comfortable, I could come in only when they wont go away on it's own or when they are very painful or I had back pain so I didn't have to spend money every week for a doctor visit.  This particular one has lasted about four days and I was having back pain as well so I thought it might be a kidney infection and decided to get it checked out.

Well my urine came back clear, great I just wasted $140.  I then was talking to her about m/c and she indicated that UTI could contribute to them because the infection could cause early contractions and cramping, resulting in a m/c.  Well that's even better.  So apparently she wants me to drink a lot of water (which I already do, I'm like fish), take a cranberry supplement, TTA and see how that goes for two months.  If that doesn't decrease the frequencies of my UTI then I'm going to see a urologist.

I know this isn't a big thing to worry about and I could have bigger problems TTC, but it's still frusturating.  I'm just feeling sorry for myself and angry that people (like my SIL's) who get KU on BC who didn't even want kids, can have happy, healthy babies.

Oh, and I still don't have my HCG back yet, it should come tomorrow.  I was at 48 and then dropped to 8, so we will have to see what happens tomorrow.

Thanks for letting me vent.

  • Hi, just wanted to say that I'm sorry for your loss(es) and that I hope your body starts behaving itself soon.

  • Sorry for your loss, and I hope you're feeling better soon.

Just a thought.  My BFF had crazy UTI and kidney infections for years.  She finally found a Dr who suggested she go vegetarian.  Something about her body breaking down animal protein made a difference for her.  Something about her body using all it's resources to breakdown the protein.  It sounds odd, but it has really made a huge difference in her life.  It might be worth a try or at least looking into.  She's been vegetarian since college (about 10+ years now) and she gets UTIs or kidney infections more like 1 a year now.  I think anything that doesn't involve meds is worth a try.

Best of luck to you!  I hope you get a sticky baby soon.

  • Thanks ladies.  I know things could be worse and we haven't been trying for very long, but it's just really bothering me today for some reason.

I may look into a more vegan lifestyle, it would make groceries cheaper right?!
