I'm constantly trying to update my library, but I always get so overwhelmed at the bookstore that I just end up picking something and buying it. I've discovered some excellent books that way, but I've also bought some absolutely tedious ones. Soooo, I thought I'd ask on here. Here's the thing though, I sometimes think that the books I prefer are the ones a lot of people thing are "boring." I'm not into the vampire fiction/Harry Potter series, horror/mystery-type books, etc. I tend to prefer historical fiction, so anything you can suggest along those lines will be appreciated most.
Some of my recent favorites are Cleopatra's Daughter, East of Eden, Cane River, and the Story of Edgar Sawtelle.
Thanks in advance, ladies!

Re: Book Recommendations, Please!
That book was great!
I love historical fiction too. My recent favorite is The Secret History of the Pink Carnation by Lauren Willig. It's a historical fiction with spies and a little bit of romance. It's a series, I believe there are 6 books. I've read the first 4 and they are really good. I couldn't put them down.

The book "The Other Boleyn Girl" was a good one. (The movie was too!)
What about holocaust survival type books- do you like those? There was one written called "All But My Life" That I just love.
Im right with you on the "boring historical fiction" books!

My BFF just read that series and can't stop raving about it. I need to pick it up.
They are the BEST! The movies really bring it to life too! Start with Dead Man's Walk. I like to read tham every other year or so around Christmas time.
