BF: "Snacking??" Do/Did you have this problem?

Some days, DD is a super nurser.  Other days, like yesterday and today, she will only eat for maybe 5 mins on one breast and not want to eat again for 2 hours...maybe 3.  I don't understand it!  She's wetting diapers and gaining weight so I'm not worried.  When I pump, I get out 3 oz from each breast.  I'm not losing my supply.  Maybe she's just getting better at getting the milk out faster??

  • BF'ing if just a mix of everything.  If you think of someone who doesn't BF and watch them offer a bottle or  pacifier or even just cuddle them really close you'll probably see the same pattern in your baby who wants to nurse!

  • DD1 nursed for 45 min.  DD2 can be done(eating on one side only) in 5-7, every time.  I just have so much more milk, and it flows/sprays.  I have heard it it can go quicker the 2nd time around.  She's prob not "snacking" if she doesn't want to eat for 2-3 hours I would think.

This happened with #2 for me, too. I was going crazy trying to figure out why he didn't like nursing. It took me a few stllar wt checks to realize he was just a really effiecient "all business" nurser.

#1 was not like that. she would have hung on all day if she could have!
