Marlee or Marley

I love the name Marley, or Marlee Jane, but everyone I have said this too (including my husband) says that the first thing they think of is Marley and Me, the sad movie where the dog dies. Thoughts?

The first thing I think of is Bob Marley, not Marley & Me.  I'm not wild about the name, but I would spell it Marley.

Definitely thought of Marley and Me first thing. I don't like this name. If you do use it, don't spell it Marlee. That looks strange to me.

Marley. I do think of Marley and Me, but the dog was named after Bob Marley. There was a soap character named Marley, I think it was on Another World.

Out of the 2 spellings, Marley looks better, but the name overall is NMS.

I actually think of the character Marley from Another World first... oh how I miss that soap. Anne Heche was the actress who played her (and her twin sister Vicky).

Then I think of Marley and Me. Marley is a very common name for yellow labs these days.

Even so, if you're going to use the name, I still think it's better to spell it with the "y".

Love the name...had a good friend in elementary school who spelled it Marlie...Of the two spellings, I like Marlee Jane...so cute!

I have to agree... I actually like the "Marlee" or "Marlie" spelling better than the "y". This name is actually on my list of names. I liked it before the dog movie came out, but there was a little girl in a Will Smith movie named Marley. Who cares if people are naming their dog that... seems like there are no boundaries for pets these days. I know someone who has a dog named "Kevin".

Because its all over HBO right now, I think of the dog from the book/movie Marley and Me.  Then I think of Bob Marley.

Yea I thought of the movie. But beyond that I just don't really like the name at all, for a person or for a dog. It seems more masculine to me anyway.
