That is a lot of sick kids, but I would place bets that at least 450 of them have parents that are freaked out and kept them home with sniffles.

There are 9 schools closed here due to "illness".  4 that I know of are closed for a week.  Not sure about the other ones.  It's nuts.

That happened here in NY in the spring when the flu first appeared. They were closing schools left and right. Personally I think it adds to the hysteria. NYC said they wont close schools anymore even if there are "outbreaks".

I had heard that MI will not be closing schools either.  My friend who works for Urgent Care said that they've done hundreds of cultures on people who insist they have the piggy flu...only one came back posiitve.

tell that to the kalamazoo area.  9 closed here!!!  I don't know if half the staff is just out, or if enough students are out that there's no point, no idea.
