Bloggers/Photographers...Question inside.

I'm not much of a blogger and only use it to post pics for the family (easier than emailing).  Anyhow, I have my fancy new camera and am taking some pretty pics but on the blog they look all grainy.  If you click on them they are clear, but also huge.  Are they grainy because the size is condensed?  I have it on the largest pictures setting that it will do.  (Oh and I use blogspot if that matters.)

Any suggestions?

  • I use blogger and post my pics in medium I think. They never look grainy.

  • Yes, I have the same issue.   I have thought about trying wordpress to see if that would make a difference.  Or, I suppose, I just need to make an actual website.

  • Ok, I think I've kind of figured it out.  If you go into the HTML stuff there is a spot where you'll see either s320 or s400.  If you make it s800 your pics will be sized much larger and less grainy.  There may be a better solution but this one is better than nothing!  After googling I found that other people have this issue too.

  • Where in the HTML is that located?  I'm going to give it a shot.  Thanks!

You just have to kind of search for it, in mine it was a few lines down.

I am so blog dense.  I'm trying to adjust my template and it's just sad sad sad.

    Good to know!  Thanks!

  • I upload my pics to photobucket and post them from there....so much easier.  but i never had them grainy before.

  • They're pixilated because your blog is sizing them down in order to fit them in the space.  Before you upload them to your blog, you need to reduce the image size to whatever you can fit in there (when I used typepad I could go around 500 px wide).

Or you can also upload the full sized photos to flickr or photobucket, and then choose the appropriate size to send to your blog.
