Pass & Fail at trying to shop and pretend I only have 1 baby lol

SUCH a beautiful day here- so i decided to go shopping at this really nice outdoor shopping center... which is a total PITA to have my double stroller at because you have to go in and out of doors constantly- and some of the stores are not made well for double strollers (SBS or tandem).

So- i decided I would wear Gray and push Gibby in my single snap and go (which really is a great thing to have- i highly recommend getting one- i have used it a LOT since having the twins!)

In ANn Taylor I got stopped by so many women telling me how adorable Gray was, raving about his hat, etc.... nobody noticed Gibby was in the stroller.  Normally I'm glad people don't notice i have 2 because I don't get stopped by everyone and hear the dumb comments- but I couldn't stand that people were giving Gray so many compliments and Gibby was getting none- so I'd point out that I had another with me- and THEN it would take twice as long to get going again b/c they had to ask all the twin questions, etc.

Go figure... I do a great job of looking like a singleton mom who can shop without everyone making stupid twin comments... but I don't let it be- and had to tell everyone I had twins! lol

Two women were super nice and said "oh, you have two! Well, I won't keep you - you probably hate getting stopped all the time and asked about them- I'll let you shop"... LOVED those women!

  • hee hee! that's funny. it's like you don't want the attention, until you don't get it! (okay, that's just me.)

so true!  Once when i only had Gibby out with me (gray was sick) everyone that told me how cute he was - i had to say "he's a twin!"... i couldn't just let it be, lol.

The one woman who said "I'll let you go" said her neighbor has triplets and says she can't go anywhere b/c she gets stopped all the time :) She doesn't love the attention like you!

  • the same thing always happens to me -

i always wear my son because he gets fussy if its any other way.  people are always coming up saying, "wow, he is so cute!" and it makes me feel the need to point out that i have a daughter too (hidden in her carseat) because it seem unfair that she never gets attention.

I love how you go out every day on your own.  You're awesome.

  • I was out with just the twins today at the mall....and about went batty.  The babies were great.  I had no less that about 20 ppl (all women) come up and ask me if they are twins.  Um, yes.  Two infant seats and two tiny babies usually leads to twins.  I was about to go crazy on someone!  I don't mind comments, but this question just seems so silly to me.  I was seriously about to start telling  people "no" and see what their reaction was! LOL.  Thank God for home! and some peace!
  • That's a funny story :)

I have to remind myself that they could possibly NOT be twins- like if i was a babysitter ... or one was mine and one was a child I watch... but yeah- that question is kind of dumb.

I was thinking that i shoudl answer "no, they are 2 months apart" and see what people say. Gibby is a lot bigger than Gray - so i bet people would believe me and be too stupid to know that would be impossible. :)

  • I went out today with my 3 kids. I put my 17month in the front seat and put my daughter in the back seat and put my other son in the front/back carrier thing. The security gaurd at the building I was in asked how old the little one was, I was like which one. People at target were even looking at me funny, I had my older son in the front part, my daughter in her carrier in the basket part, and my other son in the carrier.
  • Gail I know what shopping center you're talking about andit is a pain in the ass.... but it's so nice!! LOL I remember taking the girls there to meet a friend for lunch at panera and it was a nightmare from beginning (nowhere to park, as usual) to end (screaming babies...lol)

I love the attention and the comments, loved that people thought my girls were beautiful.  We go out with my nephew Owen frequently and even though he's six months older they're all the same size - people will say "Triplets???" and it breaks my heart, but the point of this story is that it shows how just because ti LOOKS like twins or triplets, it isn't necessarily so i guess it's not quite as silly a question as you'd think.  :)

We should meet for lunch one day at the Shoppes.... not sure if the place could survive it.  LOL
