Preemies & slings

Hey ladies!

I'm a foster parent and its been almost 2 year since I had a preemie in the house. Before we just used on a Baby Bjorn, but in my training I've learned that I need a different sling to carry baby in. We're preparing to get our soon-to-be adopted son's brand new little 32 weeker brother when he gets out of the NICU in about 3 weeks (give or take).

What sling/carriers did you find worked best for you?

Also,  I'm a plus size, so recs for that would be great too!

I love my Moby. I'm also really plus sized and it works for me. You just tie it in the back instead of the front.

 

I got mine from etsy- seller is lovely duds. I think she has a website as well. If I had it to do all over, I might contact her about making one a little extra long so I could tie it in the front. It works just as well tied in the back, but then when you sit down, you're leaning on the knot.

The Moby works very well for tiny babies up to larger. Robbie came home at 4 1/2 lbs and was comfy in it and I used it last week to take him to the doctor. He's 22 1/2 lbs now.

We have a Maya Ring Sling and I love it.  That being said, DS didn't come home until he weighed almost 8.5 lbs, so he wasn't small when he came home!  We still use it as a hip carrier!

We have both a Maya and a Moby. We use the Maya EVERYDAY! DD was 6 pounds when she came home and we used it from day one. We use the Moby too but the Maya is much quicker to put on and with others LO's around I would vote Maya.?

I used a Hot Sling when my guy was first discharged (he was around 5 lbs). They come in different sizes based on height/weight (although I think the biggest factor is chest size, since I am not that small but very flat chested and I needed a size small). I liked it until he was 3 months or so and then I switched to the Bjorn until he was big enough to sit on my hip (then I used the hot sling again).

Max *hated* the HotSling when he was tiny (in the cradle hold) but loved it once he could sit up in the hip carry!

We both LOVED our Moby!

I LOVED our Moby too when they were really little.  I like my Ergo now that they are much bigger - 17lbs.

Moby Moby Moby is his fave.  It is like a million miles long so it should fit anyone.

He also liked the hot sling when he was younger, this comes in sizes too.  But I would recommend Moby for versatility!
