Febrile Seizures any expirences?

  Febrile Seizures - a seizure causes muscle stiffing,unreponsiveness and shaking of the arms and legs. A febrile seziure is a type of seizure due to a rapid rise of temperature. Some Children under the age of six are often at risk for this If it has o...ccured once , it may occur again whenever there is a sudden high feveR.almost all children with febrile seizures "grow out of this" as they get older and the seizuresstop by age 6. With that said we had quite a night. Hopefully we will never expirence anymore ambulance rides. DD is doing fine her temperature is now normal but truthfuly i don't think i could ever go through that again! Has anyone ever expierenced it DC?

My niece had one when she was 1.  My mom was watching her at the time, and said she has never in her life experienced anything as scary as that.  My niece is now three and my sis still gets really worried every time she gets a temp.  Did you doctor tell you to do anything special?  Hers told her to alternate motrin and tylenol every two hours if she has a fever over 100.

A coworker's granddaughter had one once, they took her to the ER and had her under observation for a day. She hasn't had any since and that was over a year ago.

I hope you don't have to go through it again either!

My DD had 2 of them when she was about 18 months, she is 3.5 now and has not had another.  We manage her fevers better now.  Before we were undermedicating her because she was very low weight, weighed 18 pounds at 18 months and we were medicating her the same as most 6 month olds because of her weight.  We just drove her to the hospital, but I tend to be not too much of a worrier and we are only 1.5 miles from the hospital.

I was home alone DH was at work. And honestly I'm not dealing well with this at all! I have never been so scared in my entire LIFE! To watch her do that again is just tearing me up inside! But knowing I'm not alone helps me know that things will be ok and dr. said its not fatal but its rough! Thank you ladies for your kind words.
