XP: DH do anything funny in delivery room?

Hey. I do some writing for the bump & I'm looking for funny/silly/clueless labor coach stories...examples of what NOT to do in the delivery room.?Did your coach make any wrong moves? Or have you heard any good stories from friends?I've got to say my DH was great, but he did slip up a couple of times. Like when he invited his best buddy in at one point without asking me -- while I was all half naked & in the middle of laboring med-free! (I had to yell "NOOOOOO!" when I heard him coming in.) And if I do the no-meds thing again, I'll make him turn off his cell. I understand that family wanted to know what was happening, but frankly I was in pain and didn't give a damn.Oh, and he left the camera IN THE CAR! Her first moments are documented by iPhone.?OK. Your turn.(thanks for your help!)?

  • No he was pretty scared because my delivery was going so bad so he didn't do anything to bad. The only thing I can think of was during my 12 hr labor he was sleeping. I remember being so annoyed and frustrated because I couldn't sleep but now I am glad he got some rest.

  • I think we all did a long post on this topic sometime last week -- some really good ones on here!! :)

Mine was: after DS was delivered and the nursing staff all left the room to give us some family bonding & quiet time, DH rushed over to the bedside with a shocked look and said, "Wow - you weren't kidding... your hemrrhoids ARE huge!!" Nice.... glad it was THAT that he found most shocking about the experience. Hilarious!! Classic DH!!!

  • Not too funny. The funniest thing (now, not then) was when he got into the cheering part of the labor and started sounding like he was cheering on his favorite football team. I told him to knock it off.

  • H had his cellphone on vibrate and it was on the night stand next to my bed...his family kept texting and everytime I would get into a good rythm with my breathing I would hear Buzz Buzz BUZZZZZZZZ...it was the single most irritating and angering thing.  I have now banned his cellphone from future deliveries LOL

  • My DH was great but there were a few slip ups -

Before I started pushing he was watching basketball on the TV in the labor room.  When we had to switch rooms mid-labor he freaked out because our new room was missing a remote.  I was not amused.

I was starving but not allowed to eat anything other than ice chips.  DH was starving too but was afraid to "miss anything" so he ate Chick Fil A right in front of me!

Next time DH will not be allowed to have his cell phone until after the baby is born.  It seemed like every 10 seconds he either sent or recieved a text regarding my status.

  • It's not so much what he did in the delivery room.  It is what he had said almost everyday since she was born.  My DH looks at my daughter and tells her she came out of mommy's spout.  There's a nice image for you.  Oh well, he means well.
