WDYT?

DH seems to think that LO's sleep habits are a result of parental interference/guidance. As in, our LO STTN and naps pretty consistently because we "trained" him.

What do you think?  I think we just lucked out with a good sleeper and I hope DH doesn't have to eat crow if LO #2 is a bad sleeper.

  • I think I have parented all of mine the same and had a naturally great sleeper, a naturally awful sleeper, and one in the middle of the road. It's more about personality/temperament, than what you do or don't do. A child that might tend to have good sleep habits may "train" better than one who doesn't, though.

  • I think some kids are natural sleepers like my 2nd and some need guidance like my first.

I agree. My DD has always been a great sleeper. The first night in the hospital she was sleeping 5 hour stretches-we certainly hadn't "trained" her by then. I also agree you can help facilitate a child to have better sleep habits.

  • We lucked out with everything......our next one will be making us nuts for sure. Dh and I were both bad sleeper and annoying little babies....we have the BEST baby.

  • I always tell people DS is such a good sleeper because he has seen me when I don't get enough sleep and it scared him.

For us it was a combination, he has been a pretty good sleeper but needed that last little push to STTN
