Thanks for all the help! We ended up going with this...

 

https://tinyurl.com/yfkrrp5 and we bought the khaki canvas totes or "drawers" to go in the cubes that don't have the back. The other cubes have books or a large toy in it. It looks great in his living room space and matches all of our furniture! Thanks again!!
