My sister is going to have her baby late January, my parents are going on vacation sometime in Jan/Feb so my mom just called and made me pick a day for Em's 1st birthday party so they can plan everything. I'm a planner and all but I didn't want to have a date set in stone yet. Bah. This is stupid. I guess if I want her to be there I have to set it now. Since my sister and her kids already won't be there. Bah!
Re: Well ok then. I suppose that's when we will have her party
That is dumb. You shouldn't have to set a day in stone over 3 months away. They know when her birthday is, no? Logic would dictate that her party would be sometime close to her birthday, so DUH don't schedule a vacation around that week or so if you want to be there. It's really not that hard.
Unfortunatly she's also trying to schedule a time to go help our my sister with her new baby. Since my sister will be induced early (she's due on Feb 1st) it will more than likely be right around that time. So our options are either have her party much earlier or much later or on the weekend that her birthday actually is. I have limited options here and it sucks. While I'm happy for my sister to be having another baby, I"m annoyed that it's messing with Em's spotlight!!!! lol
Yeah I guess that would complicate things. LOL
Is your sister's H taking off time from work after the baby is born? I only ask because I know I personally would have benefitted from outside help AFTER DH went back to work, rather than the first couple of weeks when he was home. Maybe that's an option that would work for everyone? They'd be there for Em's party and your sister would get help when she really needs it.
Or if not, I say just have her "official" 1st birthday party on/near her birthday with friends, and your parents can celebrate with her after they get back.
I know for us, we'll probably celebrate with my parents a few weeks early since they're coming up here for my brother's swim meet in the middle of February and won't be able to come up again 2 weeks later for their actual birthday. Their party will still be on their birthday though.
