2nd Trimester

ugh - bleeding @ 20 weeks

I had some bright red bleeding earlier this afternoon and panicked.  This happened at 16 weeks too (although less bleeding mind you) so I called my OB.  She gave me the option of going into the hospital and getting it checked out or waiting it out to see if i had more blood.  I choose the wait it out option (since at 16 weeks we were there 6 hours and said everything was fine).  She put me on bed rest until monday morning for my 20 week u/s.  No bleeding since then, so I'm feeling a bit more relieved but man what a scary experience.

After 2 years of IF, and moving forward with adoption we were thrilled to discover we were pregnant with no intervention in 2009. Miss Molly joined our family in February 2010 and we could not be more in love with our little angel. Lilypie Second Birthday tickers blog www.grumpysnickles.com

  • Sorry to hear that you have to deal with that. I had it a few times early on and I know how scary it can be. I'm sure your LO is just fine and it's good that you'll be getting some rest. Take care!

  • Yikes I would be totally freaking out!
  • Oh my gosh, rest, rest, rest this weekend!  That must have been so scary.  I hope you don't see any more blood for another 20 weeks!
  • I had a little bit of bleeding a couple of days before twenty weeks. My doctor said I was fine and that it was probably cervical bleeding from being on my feet to much. Good luck hun and take a load off.

  • You're in my prayers.  I know how scary it is - I had bleeding up until 14 weeks.  gl!

  • I'm glad you haven't had anymore bleeding!!  Take care of yourself.

That is very scary.  I haven't had any bleeding since about 14 wks.  I would be the same way if I were you!

  • You might find out at your appointment that you have a low-lying placenta. I did and was told to not freak out if I saw any bleeding, which is common with the condition, just to call and they will get me in for a look-see. I'm sure absolutely everything is okay, but I completely understand how scared you must have been! Get lots of rest this weekend!

  • Bummer :(  FWIW, I had bleeding at 16 weeks and had an u/s that diagnosed partial previa; while still scary, there are causes like this that really aren't that "threatening" and can go away on their own.  GL!
  • I'll be thinking of you and can't wait until Monday when they tell you that your LO is just perfect!  Get some rest and make hubby wait on you hand and foot until then :)
  • Very scary. I hope everything works out.  T&P coming your way. :)
