3rd Trimester

TMI I'm sure, but I need help!

Hemorroids!  I have 3 of them now.  One on my rectum and two on my perineum Sad  It's not pleasant to talk about but I'm in so much pain now. I don't have a doctor's appt till Friday.  I've done warm baths and Tucks pads and I'm about to try an ice pack.  Anyone else have them and have suggestions on to how to make them go down or stop hurting?  Thanks!

  • I haven't tried it but someone recommended boiling down an entire thing of celery until mushy, straining it and drinking the fluid. She swore it worked like magic.

OMG that sounds disgusting...but I may have to try it if the home remedies don't work.

  • Hemorroids are miserable. I'm sorry! Here's what works for me.  I use Prep H moist cleansing pads after every BM.  I follow it up with Prep H cooling gel which is really good for pain.  I also do regular sitz baths.  You get something you put over the toilet and fill it with warm water and either baking soda or salt and then soak in it.  I would google sitz baths for hemorroids to get more info.  All of these things have helped me immensely.  GL!
  • Try some epsom salts in your baths...and take a few baths a day (10-15 minutes each).  The warm water will help to shrink them.

I have a sitz bath and it's a lot easier than having to fill the tub.

  • The only thing I had luck with was lots and lots of Tucks.  I had them really bad in my 3rd Tri and they stuck around after pregnancy for a few months.  They were really painful during pregnancy though.  I'm so sorry.  I wish I had more advice for you.  They suck big time.
  • If you're in that much pain I would ask your doctor what they can do for you...it might not be pretty, but I'm sure they could hopefully do something to relieve the pain...cause holy crap are they gonna hurt after labor if they hurt this bad before...tucks pads and hemroid cream is all I've got for advice, but from what you're describing I'm thinking you might need something more than that...
  • I just asked the RN in l&d today, and she told me " you probably should just name them, because they are here for a while..." LOL I know they are a PITA, literally, but there is not a whole lot you can do to get rid of them.
  • The only way that I have been able to get rid of them is if I sleep with Tucks pads in my bum at night.

  • Soak some cotton balls in witch hazel and freeze them. Lay with your legs elevated with them on the roids.

  • Prep H cream worked for me.  The generic brand didn't (Kroger brand).  That's all I have tried though.
  • have u tried boudreau's butt paste?  worked wonders for me in regards to soothing the area.  I also use prep h suppositories to lessen incidents of irritation.
  • Prep H cream (not gel), tucks but make sure you put them in the fridge.  The cold will help as well.

    Colace 3 x a day.  Every. Day.

Also, if you are in that much pain, call your doctor and have him give you an Rx for cream.  Most OTC creams only have 1% cortsizone.  He can give you something that has 2.5%.  Makes a big difference, let me tell you.  If you want something for the pain, ask for that too.  I had percoset and it help me sleep.

It you are unable to walk and the pain is unbearable, go to the ER or get an appointment with a colerectal specialist.  I won't tell you more for now.  PM me if you need anything else.
