Concert ?

Is it ok to go to a concert?  Will the loud music hurt the baby's ears?  (i'm 20 weeks.)

Re: Concert ?

  • I asked OB (we go to a lot of concerts) and was told it was perfectly safe.

  • Yes and no.  But being too close to speakers always hurts my own ears!

  • As long as you're not drinking or going in the mosh pit, it's perfectly safe.

  • I went to a concert a couple weeks ago -- he was kickin lots! It's fine.

  • You should be fine.  I've been to several concerts in the past month alone.  I would suggest a pair of ear plugs.  My big worry was getting a headache.  Depending on the band/venue, the noise was a but much for me.  Sometimes I used them, sometimes I didn't.  But I was happy to have them.
  • Oh, and if parking is an issue, try playing the pregnancy card.  I did and I got WAY closer than they were letting most people park.
  • I went to see Rush about 5 weeks before my son was born and he was going nuts in there!  It was a weird feeling (of course he was a lot bigger), but perfectly safe.
  • We're going to see U2 in a couple weeks and I'm not worried about the baby, more worried about me and the bathroom lines!  We spend so much time at sporting events (have season seats for hockey and baseball) that if we were to do ear damage to the baby it'd be done by now.  Occasionally loud sounds will wake my baby up but that's about it.  Go, have fun!!!!
  • I just went to a Kings of Leon concert last night!  DD didn't seem bothered at all (didn't kick any more or less than usual).  I just made sure I stayed away from anyone who could run into me.

  • Holy sheep. Is this for real? Or do I smell MUD?

No amount of noise will affect your baby during pregnancy. It isnt a logical issue at all.. everything is muffled drastically as he is INSIDE your body.
