I try to get Ava to sit/tripod, but all she wants to do is stand!  I help her up from laying down into sitting position and she immediately pushes up to standing.  I've heard it's not good for them to stand too much at this age, not sure if that's true or not, and she needs to learn how to sit on her own. 

Anyone else's LO do this?

My LO does this all the time.  I just keep trying to get her to sit/tripod too.

Yep. DS has no interest in sitting unassisted. But he LOVES to stand in my lap and look around. I read in "What to Expect the 1st Year" that babies know better than we do what they are ready for. So, I let him do what he wants (within reason) because he knows what he is more capable of than I do.

Yup. DD does this all the time. She'll sit in her Bumbo for maaaybe 10 minutes and is pushing back to get out. She'll sit longer if I hold her and sit her in my lap. For the majority though she wants to stand or lay flat. I'm hoping she grows into her exersaucer soon so she'll use that.
