Just curious - is the popularity of 'Addison' because of the Gray's Anatomy character? I had honestly never seen it before as anything but a last name before this board.

I think of the closeness to Madison also. And Addy instead of Abby.
It was getting popular before Grey's.
Married my best friend on 5/14/05
Three Girls: Bits 2/08 Biscuit 10/09 & Sweet Chuck 2/12 One Favorite son: Suishy Smalls 6/14 And another Princess coming 7/16
I started hearing it a lot more when the Grey's character was created.
It's actually A LOT prettier than Madison, IMO but it still means "son of Adam" doesn't it? SON of Adam? What about that screams "GIRL name" to anyone?
My friend got the name of her daughter from Grey's about 4 years ago. Name popularity always is affected by popular TV shows, books and movies as well as daily events in history
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Who knows I used to babysit a boy named Addison and it is a pretty traditional name for boys in the South I don't know what turned it to a girls name.
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasured day you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart...let me hold you while I may."
Well, personally, I laugh when ever I see a girl named 'Madison', as it was the mermaid's name in Splash after Madison Avenue and a total joke. Honestly, I still think it's a total joke, just one a lot of people seem to have missed now.

I feel this way about any name ending in -son for a girl. I personally don't like Addison because it's the name of a horrible disease and that's my first association.

Maybe Huntington or Parkinson or Cerebral Palsy will start making people's lists.
it seemed to be more popular on here than in real life. our pedi has only one Addison, our daughter, and its a large practice! I guess it depends on where you live. Also, we heard it on Grey's and loved it-before we were even pg.
