2nd Trimester

nose bleeds?

My pregnancy journal (some of you may have the same one) says that this month I should be aware of the possibility of nosebleeds or a "feeling of fullness" in the nose.

Anyone have any idea why this would be? I haven't experienced it, by the way ...

Re: nose bleeds?

  • My sister had them really bad when she was pregnant and I believe it is due to the high amount of blood in your body.  Not at all excited for them!

  • Yes, this has started happening to me and also happened in my last pregnancy. ?They're not so much nosebleeds per se, but every time I blow my nose I see some blood. ?Has to do with the increase of blood circulating in your body. ?Yet another attractive preg symptom!
  • My nose has been messed up ever since BFP.  It's like constant allergies, sneezing, stuffed sinuses, lots and lots of nose blowing.  They say the nasal passages and sinuses can swell during pregnancy, much like many other areas of the body can swell.

I don't get nose bleeds, but a lot of times when I blow my nose what comes out is bloody.  Gross, I know.

  • interesting -- ok, learned something new today!

my sinuses have felt weird the past month and a half (like I have a cold coming on, but it never comes). It's always worse in the morning. guess the baby's to blame :)

  • I'm definitely having this symptom. I wake up every day feeling very congested. When I blow my nose it's bloody. I've also had occasional nosebleeds. My doctor wasn't concerned and just said it had to do with increased blood flow in my body.

  • Same here!  I've had a SUPER stuffy nose that usually keeps me up in the evening...  I've always had problems with nose bleeds when the weather changes so I'm not sure if the few I've had in the last week are do to baby or the weather.

  • Yeah, I'm not looking forward to this.  I frequently have bloody nose mucous when I'm not pg and also during the dry, winter season, I have nosebleeds daily.  Can't imagine what I'm going to be like in a couple of months:oP  I'll probably just walk around with kleenex permanently shoved up my nose, LOL.

  • Sunday night I woke up and had blood GUSHING from my nose for 5 minutes. My DH was ready to take me to the ER - he was so freaked out. It was a little scary, but I've been using saline spray and a humidifier and it's calmed down to my normal winter nosebleed amount. One more glamorous side effect!

  • A stuffy nose has been my first pregnancy symptom for all three babies, and I was congested the entire 9 months. The last few weeks I've been having spontaneous nose bleeds that just gush for no apparent reason. It's been fun
