so, today i had my first real appointment with an OB (my first appointment was just a urine confirmation test, family history and answering questions). they ended up doing a lot more than i thought they would! they answered all my questions, went over some other information and information on their birthing and parenting classes, did a pap and internal exam, breast exam, abdominal exam, all that fun stuff. then i did the glucose tolerance test/glucola test and had some blood drawn for various other tests.
the doctor tried to find the heartbeat with the doppler but couldn't so he ended up doing an ultrasound to check for a heartbeat. it was so beautiful! me and my boyfriend both cried. he also said he thinks it's a bit early but he's thinking boy based on how it was positioned, which is very exciting!
so cool to see the baby moving around in there-- makes it so much more real!
the machine he was using was an older one, so he wasn't able to measure to give me an accurate due date or print any pictures off this time, but he ordered me an ultrasound in a week and a half for all of that. really excited about that! he promised me lots of pictures next time ![]()
thanks for reading, i know i blab a lot! excitement gets the best of me, haha.
Re: 1st Real Appointment & U/S Update
This??
This again...I just switched from an MD to a midwife and the doc sent me to my next appt w/the glucola and my midwife didn't even want me to do it at 23 weeks...she wanted me to wait til 28.
my mother has diabetes and i've been tested in the past. they wanted to make sure nothing has changed since i was last tested. as far as the sex, he was just guessing based on heart rate and positioning-- he made it clear it was just a first guess!
