  BEWARE if you shop at Motherhood Stores and you say yes to the "FREE" trial of Parenting Magazine, they will automatically charge whatever credit card you use to pay for your purchases to pay for a full subscription without telling you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not that I'm calling you a lier or anything, but if I find out this happens to me, I am going to be p!ssed!  Every time I tell them I don't want the stinking magazine, and somehow I am getting it anyways!

Yes, they do this. You have to either not get the freebie, or cancel right away. Otherwise, they charge you

Ugh that's so annoying!! I hate going there b/c they try to sell you a lot of things. I think last time they tried to sell me a savings plan for college - really?!?

Oh they tell you, its in the paperwork they give you but most people don't read it and don't cancel it before it gets charged.

They did mention to me that after the 2 free issues, I'd be charged. But it's ridiculously hard to actually cancel. Do they really think they're doing themselves a favor by pissing off a bunch of pregnant ladies?!

REALLY? i went to the motherhood store and said yes to the magazines. i havent receieved any yet though....

I am guessing it is the store you went to because everytime I have gone they have disclosed this to me...

I have been to about 6 different stores and each time they said I would be charged if I did not cancel...

I would call the store if they did not give you this information up front...

When I sigend up for it I had to sign a receipt that I knew it was a trial offer and at the end they would automatically charge me unless I canceled.

I've received three issues so far and have not been charged.   Maybe you forgot to cancel?

The girl at the checkout told me that I would recieve an invoice for the subscription and that at that time I could decide if I wanted to keep it or not.  NEVER told me they would charge my card!!!!!!    And FYI never got said Invoice!

I did buy a couple of things from there, did say yes to the magazines, but I paid for my items in cash. They won't be able to charge my card, so maybe the magazines will just never come.

I just called the number on the receipt and they canceled it and are sending me a letter saying I canceled. Yay!

Yeah, I found this out the hard way. Luckily, I made the purchase with a gift card, so they had my address, but not my card info, so they couldn't charge me. They kept sending me bills and I sent them back an email telling them to cancel my account.

This happens at a lot of places.  It happened to me at best buy once so I don't doubt that it would happen at motherhood also.  They kept hitting my card more than once so they tried to make me pay for it like 5 times plus there were more pending.  The best part is I never even received the magazine.  I canceled that card and marched up to best buy to get them to fix it, they couldn't but they did give me a number of who to contact at the magazine.  The refunded my money and best buy gave me a gift card.  So it ended up ok but really made me very mad.
