2nd Trimester

should I really??

Dr said to go ahead and get a flu shot this year, I've NEVER had a flu shot in my life and don't really get sick so I never saw a reason to, until the H1N1 stuff came up and now I'm pregnant so I;m really thinking about getting the flu shot. But, I was wondering, how many of you had any sort of wierd reaction? Like that it made you sick? I;ve heard the shot can actually make you kinda sick for a little while, like a "mini-flu".

Re: should I really??

  • I had never had a flu shot in my life but got it this time and didn't have any problems, at all.

The chances that you get the "mini flu" are very rare, from what I've heard.

Be sure to let them know that you're pregnant when you get it and get the shot without Thermasol (spelling is wrong).

  • The shot is made from a dead virus and cannot make you sick. The reaction you get is like a reaction you'd get from any vaccination. They can make you achy, tired, and feverish.

  • I have never gotten a flu shot before, I got my first flu shot yesterday, but opted not to get the H1N1 because nobody really knows the effects it will have on the baby...but besides my arm being sore as heck from the shot itself, nothing so far!!

    Agreed!!  What she said ;-)

  • I got my first flu shot ever last week. The seasonal flu shot the the H1N1 flu shot are 2 completely different shots JSYK. I had the seasonal flu H1N1 isn't out yet, soon though. I felt tired and weak the next day, had a killer headache. I was told if your body isn't 100% you may feel down for a day or two afterwards but you won't get the flu.
  • i started getting the flu shot 3 years ago and don't ever get sick. my arm aches a little for a day or so, but that is it.
