We used ferber with Carson at 9 months with sleep wakings while learning to crawl. We had to use it again around 13 months old. He has always been a great sleeper, he took to ferber just fine.
Now that he is older (still in crib) if he fusses it is usually b/c he needs his blanket or lovie or something so we go in and re-adjust him and he falls right back asleep.
Last night was awful - he woke at 1:30 am and I went back and forth about 3 times to readjust him. Finally I rocked him for a while and he went down for a little bit. He was up again and I decided to do the ferber thing (5mins, 10 mins, 15 mins) after 15 mins of him screaming and yelling "time to get up mommy!" I went in changed his diaper, rocked him for a while, when I put him in the crib he had a fit. I was finally able to get him to physically lay down and I stood there and patted for a minute and decided - this is it. I walked out and after 30 mins of screaming he fell asleep.
So my question is, at this age is ferber to difficult on toddlers and do you just let them cio after you are sure all their needs are met? TIA!
