We sat down a couple months ago and hashed out exactly how much each of us was going to save from our paycheck to save for a house. It's a significant chunk of my paycheck and basically leaves me with enough money for gas until the next paycheck.
I just checked our savings account - he hasn't put in squat in the last two months! (he was to put in about the same %, but since he makes more, it should be more than I put in) This is including the money that he is getting reimbursed from our FSA for Gabe's car (which I pay from my paycheck, and we agreed would go into savings when he was reimbursed). I'm pissed, but I'm going to try and talk rationally about it with him tonight. But why in the hell am I busting my ass saving if he isn't doing anything?!
:fumes:
Re: I think DH and I need to have a talk.
Maybe he just forgets to transfer it?
Is it possible that he has it adding up in his own account? Can you check his account balance?
It is possible, which is why I'm going to (try) not to yell. But I also know if he has it in his account, he'll spend it. That's why we are doing the "put it into savings first" approach. I can't see his checking account balance - just our joint checking and savings accounts. We each have our own personal checking account that our paycheck goes into.
That's another reason it makes me mad - he's the one that is always on me to set up transfers, pay bills automatically etc, because he says I forget too much. I just don't like paying bills automatically (don't know why, it bugs me), so I've become MUCH more disciplined about paying all my bills when I get paid (and putting my $$ into savings at the same time)
Grr. The more I think about it, the madder I get.
This is why Isha gotz the skillz that pay the billz.
No seriously, DH would do the same damn thing.
Those aren't your only skilllz, just sayin. And you totally get DH's recliner spot now. His ass can sit on the floor.
