I just want to vent a bit...

My husband & I didn't want to tell anyone our name choices, but we thought it would be OK to tell family...WRONG.  My brother asked if we have names in mind, and I said "Yes, we LOVE Lorelei"!  He replied, "Ugh, NO that is awful...what about Kylie?"  Seriously, when someone tell you there top choice for a name, know that it's going to upset them if you reply that you hate it!  I was venting to my mom, and she didn't have a much better reaction "Lorelei sounds southern..."  IT'S GERMAN!  

She also pointed out that she HATES my bedding choice...awesome.  She thinks Farm Animals would be much better than Lady Bugs...ugh.

This is why we are keeping our name a secret until he is born. Some people don't have a filter! Use the name you and DH love as that is what is important!

Haha thats our pick for a girl! Lorelei Mae- and that is why we aren't telling anyone Although I can't see my family thinking its too southern/german sounding but my sister would make fun of me because I liked the show Gilmore Girls.

I'd be more apt to share our name ideas with complete strangers than I would with family members.  They are the ones whose opinions always seem to be the strongest and loudest!

Hun...i completely understand what you are going through. Being that I am greek, greeks have no understanding of what a boys name or girls name should be because they just stick their kids with the parents names. If you like that then fine but if you dont like me and my husband dont, we choose names we actually like. When I told my father especially about that he was like ewww what kind of name is that. I just learned to ignore it and the only thing that matters is that you and your husband like it and that your baby is healthy and happy.

I love the name Lorelei. Our DD is Lorelei Lane L... and she loves saying her name now that she's almost 2. She just says Lori-lori-lorelei or combines it with Daddy or Mommy. It's so cute! I thought I loved the name, but I was sure of it when I understood she loves it too! Our LO will be named Kai Donovan Eddie L... and our family isn't really supportive, but we love it, so...bleh.

My mom did the same thing! We told her our name if it's a girl Isabella Grace and she's like yuck maybe i might be able to stand calling her Izzy and for a boy Damon James and she was like noo it sounds Demonic! Finally i got mad and told her OUR BABY NOT YOURS!!
