D.C. Area Babies

Did you see the news about the lady and her stroller?

I haven't Googled it yet, but as I was walking out the door to go to work the Today show had some footage of a woman whose stroller rolled off a train platform and onto the tracks - then the stroller got run over by a freaking train?  And the six month old in the stroller ended up being basically FINE?  What a miracle.

I said to DH - you know, there are plenty of times I have put the baby in the stroller then turned my back for a second.  Do I always put the brakes on the wheels of the stroller?  I don't know, honestly, probably not every time.  That woman must feel like the worst mother ever.

  • I just saw the video. What a scary moment. I'm glad that the baby was okay. I haven't traveled yet with DD on the metro but I know that when I do, this video will come to mind and I will be holding on tight to the stroller.

  • OMG,they had the story on WTOP but they said the stroller was pushed by the train after it was on the tracks - this looks like the train ran over the stroller after it fell onto the tracks.  That mother must have been out of her mind and thinking her baby was dead.  How amazingly lucky they both are.

  • OMG, I saw the video on the morning news!  Incredible!  That is one lucky kid and mother!

  • omg. wow. that's is so scary. thank god the baby is okay, what a miracle!
  • Oh my.  That is such a miracle.  I know I don't always use the break, but I will be sure to now.  Whenever I read stories like this I think of the expression, "there but for the grace of God."  It's so true.
  • I cried watching that video even though I knew the baby was ok.  I just cannot imagine.  And those people who had to witness it must have been in a state of shock and felt so helpless.  I'm SO thankful everything turned out ok.  If that happened to me I'm pretty sure I would have passed out.

  • Oh, and I meant to add a story.  DH and I walked up to Baskin Robbins over the summer with DD (for us, not for her, ha ha).  :-)  Anyway, we ran into some neighbors we know outside the store, and we stopped to chat for a second.  I let go of her stroller and it started to roll down the sidewalk (I thought it was flat, but apparently it has a slight decline), and the neighbor grabbed it because I wasn't paying attention.  I felt so horrible, and I totally felt like he was judging me for not paying better attention.  I will be using my brakes from now on!

  • OMG - I will always apply the breaks now!  And if I ever take DS on the metro as a toddler, he will either be in the stroller or wearing one of those leash/tether things.
