I got Baby Names Made Easy by Amanda E. Barden from the library. I like it because it groups the names by meaning, not that meaning really makes a difference to me, but it breaks the list up so you are not looking at all A, B, C names groups together.
The Baby Name Wizard hands down! Its $12.95 at Joseph Beth and gives you "brothers and sisters" for each name you like so that if maybe you like a name that DH doesn't or vice versa, there might be another one like it that you both like OR if you intend to have siblings or already have children, the "brothers and sisters" names give you names that "flow" with other names.
Also gives you popularity, when it peaked and a little brief on the origin of each name.
Makes picking names a little more manageable and not so overwhelming like some of those other 50,000 - 100,000 names....

We actually just dug into our family tree and found lots of solid, not trendy but not crazy names.
Ok, I have a great-great-??- grandmother who was named Lettuce Missouri. Clearly that did not make it on to our list.
