2nd Trimester

NE1 taking Les Mills Body Pump or Body Combat?

Just curious how you're modifying the program(s).

I've been away from Pump for awhile (going back tomorrow!) and now that I'm in the 2nd tri, I need to angle the step for chest/arms but I don't know what abs stuff to avoid (and the nurse at the dr wasn't much help).  I've heard planks are great to do while pregnant but crunches aren't.

As far as Combat goes, I haven't had any issues with the program but we just switched to the new one and it does involve ab work on the floor.  If you're on the new one (not sure what number it is), do you just skip the flat-on-your-back ab stuff, or do you get a step and incline it?

 Thanks!

  • I do Rep Reebok Lift which is similar to Body Pump. I modifiy anything that invoves lying on the bench by sitting and performing a similar exercise for that muscle group. How did you learn about putting the bench on an incline? How does that help?

I have found that plank is great. I can't find much reputable literature about avoiding ab stuff but much of it involves lying on your back so...I'll do a bit and then rest or stretch.

  • Hey I teach Body Combat....I'm still hanging in...I just don't do the abs really anymore since week 19, too much pressure feeling, just talk my class through them...if you really want to do them...I suggest putting a Pump bench on an incline...or you could try doing a hover/plank when everyone else is doing the sit ups!

    Good luck :-)

  • Thanks.

I found a pregnancy guide on the les mills site that suggested variations for the exercises (including doing the incline).
