Oh my GAHD! I was standing in the kitchen, barefoot doing the dishes. I had the dishwasher door down and my cat (who is not very bright) was laying next to it, staring underneath the dishwasher. I didn't think anything of it and kept doing the dishes.
After a couple minutes, I see he's still doing it and I go to grab him and I see a HUGE ASS BLACK WIDOW crawling across the floor, towards my bare feet!!! ![]()
I screamed like a five year old, stepped back and then grabbed my cat and threw him down the hallway.
Phew. This is my least favorite of our two cats and now he's on my good list for the forseeable future.
Black widows are common in our area (dry climate) but I've never seen one in the house.
*shivers!*
Re: Phew! Black Widow!
I'd be checking my bed after that incident! I hate spiders! Good thing you didn't step on it!
...Baby Blog...CD Blog...
Yes!! Eeeek! I stepped on it, quick and hard and then grabbed it in a couple napkins and flushed it. I was careful though... Iv'e heard that their venom can still get you after they die.
Eeeeeek.
Yuck! We've had a ton of them in our garage this past summer (I live in California too). They scare the sh*t out of me. Luckily the cooler weather coming up should help.
A few years ago, I was on the couch half-asleep and I felt something lightly brushing my belly. In my sleepy state, I brushed it away. A few seconds later it was back. I woke up completely and jumped up. It was a huge black widow spidow. I don't think I got a good nights sleep for a long time after that.
Ugh, I am officially creeped out.
I HATE SPIDERS!! I would have freaked! Glad you noticed it before it bit you!
I know!! And it says in pregnancy, a bite can cause you to have contractions and go into preterm labor! Eeeeeeep!!!
<:O OMG! I HATE spiders! I am a huge ARACHNOPHOBIC. Even the tinest of spiders freakes me out.
I am glad that your cat was there to see it and keep you safe. Be careful!
We've never had Black Widow spiders BUT we did have LOTS of Brown Recluse, which are very poisonous. We put out glue traps & would have 8-10 on every glue trap INSIDE OUR HOUSE!!! Needless to say, we called an exterminator & started having our house (inside & out) sprayed monthly!! It helped A TON!
We moved from that area now & its rare to have them here thanfully!!!
