Preemies

OK - 1 more vent ladies

One of the hardest things about being a preemie mom is worrying - and not knowing if something is a big deal or cause for concern, or, if it's totally and completely normal even for a term baby.  I over-analyze everything.

Like for example, the last 2 days, Andrew seems to hate his bottle.  I struggled just now to get him to take 4 ounces.  Normally he'd suck down 9 ounces no problem.

So now, my mind is going crazy.

Rationally - He's only been 2 days. He's hydrated. He's fine, right?  Maybe he's just not that hungry.  Or it's just because he's teething.

Irrationally - Or maybe his reflux is acting up (he's not screaming or crying, just totally uninterested) or he is losing his sucking reflux or self-weaning from the bottle or some other unknown.

My mind wavers between this being something completely normal, and the start of something awful.  Dang.

  • Yep. And then you have termie-mommas telling you to CTFO and you want to scream and say YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND.

     I'm sorry. :(

  • I know how you feel.  Noah slept late two days last week and I kept thinking - the first sign of H1N1 is extreme tiredness.  I should have just gotten extra sleep myself instead of worrying over nothing.
