Talk to me about cord stumps

Mallory still has hers!  Everything I read and hear indicates that it should have fallen off by now.  Small pieces have fallen off but the majority of it is still hanging on tight.

    It took DS's stump a good 3-4 weeks to fall off. ?We actually had it cauterized (sp?) because it started to smell kind of funky. ?Pedi said that thicker cord = thicker stump = longer to fall off. ?I don't think you should worry unless you see signs of infection.

    Olivia's stump took just over two weeks. My mom finally got tired of it and showed me how to really get at it. I started dipping a qtip in rubbing alcohol and applying it to the stump 3xday and was sure to really get under it with gentle pressure. I also would squeeze the remaining alcohol onto it to help it dry out. It took about two days of this before it finally did the trick! HTH

    PS Your DD is adorable! And what a sweet name!
