She's going to this really great gymnastic school that has classes for beginners but also competitive teams. Anyway, I've noticed that she is quite good at gymnastics and I signed her up a month ago...she's gone to three classes. Today her teacher approached me and said she is moving her up to the next level but in addition to that she is being evaluated next week, based on the advanced skills she has shown, for a team. This is something you can only be invited to do. She frockin' loves gymnastics..it's practically all she thinks about so this would be pretty neat for her. Though all the crazy gymnastic shennanigans around the house might drive me crazy.
Re: AW'ing my daughter and her mad skillz
how fun for her!
And being chosen - that's really cool - what a great confidence builder for her.
That is great news! Dd has been going for 3 years and loves it too. She just loves it and goes year round. She is always practicing at home so last year we bought her a balance beam for the house (it is floor level) and it is pink. They sold them at her school. She plays on that thing and a few other pieces we've added. It is a great sport (and I'm one of those worry moms too but I see how much she loves it). Dd is 3 and has to wait until 6 to join the team.
I was just going to comment on this... I typically ignore the one-starrer because they are obviously the most pathetic loser on the planet, because really who cares that much to one star a bunch of posts. However, this is the type of post that I think is just so ICK to 1 star. I think a happy birthday post to Jackson was 1 starred and I just thought, WHY?
I'm not offended [and I'm guessing you're not either], but it's just really strange and lame. Congrats, one starrer! You're the biggest jackass on the nest, which really? A VERY AUSPICIOUS HONOR, for sure, because there are a lot of jackasses on the nest.
So true!
LOL, true!
Its a reminder that I'm not the most bitter person on the nest even on my worst days.
I was just reading up more about it and it sounds pretty neat. This will be a development opportunity and then they can move on to teams based on their abilities. Might be kind of cool.
I don't know how close you might be to a venue but USA gymnastics has some great competitions that I bet your dd would love to see. We took dd to one in our area (Boston) last year and dd got to meet the gymnasts from the USA Olympic team that were in China. She met Shawn Johnson, Nastia Lukin (dd's fav) and Alicia Sacramone. The event was really great and the Mens Olympic team was there too. But around this time of year they start going on with competitions around the country. It is something to see.
